Happy Halloween!

"This, our town of halloweeeeeen...this is Halloween...this is Halloween...pumpkins scream in the dead of niiiiight...This is Halloween everybody make a scene... "

Even though scary is not my thing...I love that song from Tim Burton's "Nightmare before Christmas"

We love going downtown Saranac Lake for our Halloween experience. Thanks to all the local businesses for this great fun and effort.

Creeping around the corner....

It's almost time for celebrating the day of the dead with the creepiest things imaginable. Come to think of it, it's my favorite time of year. Only I don't like scary things nor do I like decorating with spooky things for Halloween.

There is beauty in some scary things and it's only natural to pass through the cycles of life, even though it sometimes doesn't feel good or right.

I like to use this time of year to say goodbye to the summer growth and welcome the dead of the winter.

To warm our skins with extra layers of clothes and repel the sting of chill on our ears with cozy hats on our heads.

It's also a good time to recreate our sanctuary. To cozy up our homes for the winter and make comfort in the little things that remind us to be grateful.

We are adjusting well...

It's been 37 days of kindergarten already!
A lot of things have changed for me since the beginning.

I no longer drive past the school 6 or 7 times a day or sit outside in the car at recess crying, while watching Mia play alone in the sandbox.

I no longer worry about Mia being lonely or missing home.

I no longer think Mia is too little to be away from home.

As a matter of fact Mia is really enjoying school. She is learning a lot of new things in many different ways. Mia REALLY loves her teacher and REALLY loves her friends.
I was really afraid of too much change. I was really afraid of Mia changing too much....

...and she is. She is changing into an even more beautiful person every day and I'm so sorry that I'd ever tried to stop her.

It's amazing to see the change in her relationship with her baby sister. Her new found patience and desire to share her knowledge.

Lula and I can't wait to pick up the "big kids" from school everyday because we love them to bits!

Since when do nine year olds know EVERYTHING?

Kobe turned nine in September and came to the realization that he knows EVERYTHING!

He's always right and everyone else is wrong.

There is always a quick "no it's not!" response to my statements.

This is the pre-teen creeping into my sweet little boy...

...but, no matter how uncool Mom and Dad are at times...

...no matter how much more (he thinks) he knows than Mom and Dad...

...or how unfair and unkind (he thinks) Mom and Dad are....

...he is still our sweet little boy who needs his Mom and Dad.

We Love you so much Kobe Christopher Zere.

Mom and Dad also know that you love us too!

It's that time of year...

Cool, brisk, air. Crunchy leaves and crisp apples. Plumply orange pumpkins, and cinnamon spiced tea...

...and lots of one on one with my baby girl.

It's a big change from the hustle and bustle of a busy summer. We always had activities planned around three active kids.
Now the "BIG" kids are in school and Lula and I have hours of unplanned ....doings.
